Natalia González Bañados is a lawyer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Chicago. She received scholarships from Fulbright, CONICYT, and the University of Chicago. From 2002 to 2006, she worked as an associate attorney at Carey y Cía. Ltda., specializing in corporate and financial law.

She later served as a legislative advisor at the Ministries of Finance (2006–2007 / 2010–2011), Planning (2010), and Energy (2007–2008 / 2011–2012), contributing to public policy design and the drafting and negotiation of various bills in the National Congress, covering social policy, capital and financial markets, and electricity law, particularly in the regulation of generation and distribution.

She currently teaches at Faro UDD, Universidad del Desarrollo, among other professional roles. In December 2020, she was elected for a six-year term as Commissioner of the Council for Transparency, and on April 29, 2025, she assumed the presidency of the institution
